Lucerne tradition

THE STORY BEHIND WIRTSHAUS GALLIKER
OUR
STORY.

A name with history.

The Galliker name dates back to 1681. And the Galliker family came onto the scene in November 1856 – four generations ago.
Back then, they were running Zur Laterne, which is still a popular restaurant on the Reuss river to this day. That same year, the hosts switched inns and the Galliker family has been delighting diners at the restaurant with its own name over the door ever since.

Traditional Swiss cuisine.

Our closely guarded recipes that have been handed down through the generations are still as popular with our modern diners as they’ve always been. Tête de veau, tripe, potato rösti with bratwurst sausages and onion sauce, and traditional local puff pastry pies are just some of our menu highlights.

VIP guests.

Everyone is welcome to dine with us – whether you’re at the end of a long shift or you have celebrity status.

Plenty of famous people have dined with us here at Wirtshaus Galliker over the years. A popular choice among high-profile politicians, our restaurant also served John Travolta back in 1981.

BREATHING NEW LIFE INTO
OLD TRADITIONS.

Wirtshaus Galliker is built on 140 years of family tradition. The classic cuisine stayed on the menu even after Tobias Meyer and Alexandra Perren took over the restaurant from Peter Galliker.

Gault & Millau

The Gault&Millau restaurant guide has shown its appreciation for Wirtshaus Galliker.

Its testers are full of praise for our traditional Swiss cuisine with a regional focus after they dined with us. For example, they enjoyed one of our classic Lucerne puff pastry pies followed by our potato rösti with pork bratwurst sausage and onion sauce.
